ALERT: Delhi Gurdwara Committee to Renovate Historical Gurdwaras
After Punjab, Historical Gurdwaras in Delhi Face "Kar Seva" Danger
NEW DELHI (October 12, 2013)—In a press release, the Delhi Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has announced various projects that involve renovating historical shrines and structures of Gurdwaras located across Delhi.
The announcement by DSGMC is alarming as the renovation processes requires destroying historical artifacts and reconstructing them with a modern look. The SGPC in Punjab has committed the same mistake by destroying years old Gurdwaras dating back to the times of the human Gurus and building new structures on top of them.
The majority of the work will take place at Gurdwara Bala Sahib. Gurdwara Bala Sahib is one of the most important Sikh shrines in Delhi, that is associated with the life of Guru Harkrishan Sahib ji. He left for the heavenly adobe at Gurdwara Bala Sahib after he healed ailing bodies in New Delhi and cured hundreds of people who were suffering from the deadly diseases of cholera and smallpox.
Manjit Singh GK has handed over the renovation work to Baba Bachan Singh (kar seva wale) and expressed his desire to complete the entire work as soon as possible.
